Suspected armed bandits have burnt 11 members of a family to death in Gidan Taba village, Dosara Birnin Kaya Ward, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Saturday night.
According to Abubakar, the armed men gathered the entire household in one room and set them ablaze.
The victims were members of the family of Mallam Muhammadu Sani, a member of the local vigilante group.
Sources said Sani had resisted the bandits’ operations in the area, a move believed to have prompted the attack on him and his family.
Abubakar said police operatives are on the trail of the assailants and are working to restore normalcy to the affected village.
