Armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, have abducted Prince Emorioloye Owoloemi, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State. The incident occurred on Thursday morning at around 9 a.m. at Okonga/Olodo Junction in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area.
According to sources, Owoloemi, who is the Director-General of the Asiwaju Media Team, was taken away by armed individuals in two Hilux vehicles. His current whereabouts remain unknown, and efforts to reach him have been unsuccessful.
The Ilaje Local Government Chairman, Hon. Maurice Oripenaye, condemned the abduction, describing it as a brazen act of criminality. “The council received the report with profound shock and grave concern,” he said, adding that the incident is a “flagrant violation of public safety and an assault on the peace-loving people of Ilaje.”
The local government has initiated contact with security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services, and Nigerian Army, to ensure Owoloemi’s safe release. The Ondo State Police Command has also confirmed the incident and launched an investigation.
“We urge the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information,” said Jimoh Abayomi, Police Command spokesperson. “The Command has put every measure in place to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.”
The community is rallying behind Owoloemi’s family, and authorities are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
