BREAKING: Nigerian Air Force Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing In Makurdi

There was panic on Wednesday in Utur Tse-Igboji community, Bar Council Ward, Makurdi, Benue State, after a Nigerian Air Force helicopter made an emergency landing on a farmland.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, along the Welfare Quarters to Mopol 13 Ring Road axis of Makurdi.

According to an eyewitness, Mr. Stephen Ikpam, who reported live from the scene, the helicopter developed a technical fault mid-air, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

Residents were said to have rushed to the scene to assist the officers on board.

“By the grace of God, all lives on board were saved when the helicopter made an emergency landing on our farmland due to a technical fault,” Ikpam said.

“It would have been a double tragedy if the helicopter had crashed in a residential area.”

No casualty was recorded, and all personnel on board reportedly came out alive.

As at press time, the Nigerian Air Force is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Efforts to reach NAF authorities for comments were ongoing.
