Imo West 2027: Court Sacks Uzodimma As APC Candidate, Orders INEC To Publish Okorocha’s Name

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State to stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in his judgment delivered on Wednesday, held that Governor Uzodimma did not win the APC senatorial primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court held that evidence presented before it proved that former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, won the majority of lawful votes cast at the primary.

Justice Egwuatu consequently ordered the APC to forward Okorocha’s name to INEC as the authentic candidate of the party for the Imo West Senatorial election slated for January 16, 2027, and directed INEC to publish his name accordingly.

The court also issued an order restraining Governor Uzodimma from further parading himself as the party’s candidate for the senatorial district.

Details of the judgment to follow.
