A High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, has sentenced John Sunday Eyo to life imprisonment for raping a 16-year-old girl.
Delivering judgment on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Justice Blessing Egwu found the defendant guilty of the offense.
Reacting to the ruling, Basic Rights Council Initiatives, BRCI, which handled the case, commended the Cross River State Police Command for its thorough investigation and prosecution support.
The organization also lauded the Attorney General of Cross River State, Etubom Ededem Ani, and the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Okoi Ukam, for their commitment to ensuring justice was served.
