A 22-year-old man in Delta State is under fire after an activist alleged that he impregnated a 16-year-old girl and later drugged her in an attempt to force an abortion.
Activist Israel Joe shared a video of the teenager speaking from her hospital bed. He alleged that the suspect lured the girl to an undisclosed location, gave her a drugged drink, and fled after she lost consciousness. Good Samaritans later found her and took her to hospital.
Joe said the suspect was first arrested by community youths and taken to the Jesse Police Division, but was released after his father allegedly intervened with legal representation.
In a public appeal to the DPO, Jesse Division, Delta State Command, Joe condemned both the relationship and the alleged attempt to terminate the pregnancy.
“Sleeping with an underage girl should be discouraged holistically. This boy should be rearrested immediately and made to face the full weight of the law,” he wrote.
He added that the drug did not terminate the pregnancy, and the girl is now “a little stable” in hospital.
The activist urged the police to act swiftly and without bias to ensure justice.
