Troops of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued six people abducted by bandits during a routine patrol in Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The victims — four women and two boys — escaped from their captors and were found wandering in the bush by soldiers. They have been identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, Amina Isiaku, Safiya Isiaku, Ramatu Suleiman, Muhammad Shehu, and Ibrahim Suleiman.
According to a statement by Captain Abayomi Adisa, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the group was kidnapped from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026. The Army said the victims have since been reunited with their families.
Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, Commander of the 17 Brigade, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to “sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements and ensuring the protection of lives and property” across its area of responsibility.
Faskari and Kankara LGAs remain among the flashpoints for banditry and kidnapping in Katsina State.
