The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has rejected the idea of a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2027 elections, saying Nigeria’s leadership must reflect its multi-religious and multi-ethnic character.
In a communique after its NEC meeting, the PFN said inclusive governance promotes unity and trust. The statement comes after the APC adopted President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as its 2027 ticket.
The Christian body also opposed any law that would restrict preaching, describing such moves as contrary to constitutional guarantees on freedom of religion and expression.
“While we support lawful regulation to preserve public order, it must not be used to suppress religious expression,” PFN said.
The fellowship urged government at all levels to uphold the Constitution and called on Christians to remain peaceful and law-abiding while engaging in dialogue to preserve national cohesion.
