Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 27 kidnapped victims and foiled several abduction attempts during a series of operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States. The troops also recovered rustled livestock and motorcycles during the operations.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Spokesman of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
According to the statement, troops deployed at two Forward Operating Bases acted on credible intelligence and moved swiftly to Wanke and Kaura communities in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State. During the operation, six kidnapped victims were rescued. Troops also recovered livestock and two motorcycles. The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families.
In a separate operation, troops of Combat Team 12 responded promptly to a distress call along the Gummi–Sokoto road after terrorists blocked the highway in an attempt to abduct commuters. The troops engaged the attackers and pursued them, leading to the rescue of 11 kidnapped persons.
The military said operations are ongoing to clear terrorist hideouts and ensure the safety of residents along major highways in the North West.
