Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, PO, has laid out a vision to put Nigeria on the path of unity, national transformation, and prosperity.
In a statement released on Tuesday to mark July 1, PO said his administration would focus on curbing abuse in government, reversing the decline in living standards, and building a more inclusive and productive nation.
*Vision Anchored on Unity and Social Justice*
“My vision is anchored on a commitment to unity, inclusion, social justice, equity, and the freedom of every citizen to pursue lawful dreams,” he said.
He promised to share, in the coming weeks, a detailed roadmap he believes can “usher in an era of unity, peace, sustained progress, and prosperity.”
*Human Capital as National Infrastructure*
Central to the roadmap, PO said, are sweeping reforms in education and healthcare. He described a strong human capital base as “indispensable infrastructure for national progress” and the foundation for economic growth and public service delivery.
“These are foundational areas that we must reform with energy and determination if we are to reap the demographic dividend of our youthful population,” he stated.
*Plan to Tackle Out-of-School Children and Skills Gaps*
From day one, PO said his government would set up a task force to drastically reduce the number of out-of-school children.
The plan also places strong emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, to drive industrialisation. The model would be anchored on agriculture, value addition, and industrial parks sited in development zones across Nigeria’s six geopolitical regions.
To fund and equip TVET institutions, he proposed partnerships between government, the private sector, and social entrepreneurs, including faith-based educators. The aim is to create apprenticeship pathways modeled on Germany’s dual education system.
“It is unacceptable that unemployment remains high while Nigerian entrepreneurs set up businesses abroad because skilled labour is scarce,” PO said. “We must confront this decisively to shift Nigeria from a consumption-driven to a production-driven economy.”

The candidate added that character and civic education would be a priority under a proposed tripartite governance approach. He said instilling values that foster trust, enterprise, and leadership is critical to national renewal.
He closed with a rallying call: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
