DSS Arrests Former Minister Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery, Hands Him To ICPC

Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have arrested former Minister of Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

Security sources said Nnaji was taken into custody on Wednesday morning as he attempted to board a private jet to Abuja.

According to the sources, the arrest was carried out at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC. The agency is investigating allegations of certificate forgery against the former minister.

Nnaji was later handed over to the ICPC, the sources added.

The ICPC had reportedly sent several invitations to Nnaji following petitions on his management of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The commission is said to have contacted the DSS for assistance after he failed to honour the invitations.

Nnaji resigned from the cabinet in October 2025 under controversial circumstances.

The ICPC has not released an official statement on the matter as of press time.
