France coach Didier Deschamps has turned down a request from his players for a night off ahead of Saturday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup third-place playoff against England.
According to _L’Equipe_, members of the France squad asked for a free evening “to clear their heads” following their 2-0 semi-final defeat to Spain in Boston earlier this week.
However, Deschamps rejected the request, determined to keep the team focused as France look to avoid ending the tournament with back-to-back losses.
The Les Bleus traveled from their World Cup training base in Boston to Miami on Thursday ahead of the playoff at Hard Rock Stadium.
England also head into the match on the back of disappointment, having lost 2-1 to Argentina in their semi-final on Wednesday.
With both teams aiming to finish the tournament on a high, Deschamps is prioritizing discipline and preparation over downtime as France chase a podium finish in the 2026 World Cup.
