A mother and her daughter were among four people killed when suspected gunmen attacked Katul Crossing Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday night, July 13, 2026.
Residents said the attackers stormed the community around 8:00pm, opening fire indiscriminately.
The daughter was shot dead at the scene. Her mother sustained critical gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital, but later died from her wounds.
Two other residents were also reportedly killed in the attack. Their bodies are being kept at a mortuary pending burial arrangements by their families.
As of press time, security authorities had not released an official statement on the incident.
The attack has thrown Katul Crossing and surrounding communities into mourning, with residents calling for increased security presence in the area.
Police in Kaduna are yet to confirm the casualty figures or provide updates on ongoing investigations.
