Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed at least 63 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in a failed attack on Malam Fatori, Borno State. The insurgents had launched a dawn assault, using armed drones and advancing on foot, but were repelled by Sector 3 troops supported by the Nigerian Air Force.
Precision air strikes by the NAF played a key role in the operation, leading to heavy casualties among the insurgents. Allied Nigerien forces also conducted strike missions on fleeing terrorists. Four Nigerian soldiers sustained minor injuries and have been treated.
The military says troops remain on high alert to prevent further attacks as clearance operations continue in the area.
