The Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the murder of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Benue State chapter, and one Yakubu Isa.
According to the Command, the suspects were apprehended in Otukpo following an intelligence-led operation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, described the arrests as a “major breakthrough” in the investigation.
“I commend our officers for this swift and decisive action. This is a major breakthrough in the investigation,” CP Nwadiogbu said.
The CP assured residents that the manhunt was still ongoing to track down other persons linked to the killings.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest other persons connected to the killings. Everyone found culpable will be prosecuted in line with the law,” he pledged.
Alhaji Mohammed was killed alongside Yakubu Isa in an attack that sparked tension in parts of the state. Police say investigations are continuing to unravel the motive and identify additional accomplices.
