Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has announced the passing of his mother, Mrs Mary Amaechi, who died on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.
In a statement issued by his media office, Amaechi described the late Mrs Amaechi as a cherished matriarch who held the family together with love, peace, and unity.
“She was a community women leader and Christian leader whose faith in God was firm and resolute. She was loved and highly respected in her community and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her,” the statement read.
The former Rivers State governor and his family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and support during this difficult time.
The family said details of funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, and appealed for continued prayers and thoughts from friends, supporters, and well-wishers.
