A Sokoto State High Court has sentenced three men, including a foreign national, to death by hanging for terrorism and illegal arms proliferation.
Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello of High Court No. 23 delivered the judgment on case SS/45c/2026. The court also ordered all money recovered from the convicts forfeited to the Federal Government.
The convicts are Yusuf Muhammad alias “Sallau” – Nigerien national, Jabbi Alhaji Yalle – Nigerian, Kabiru and Muhammad – Nigerian
The Department of State Services Counter-Terrorism Unit arrested the trio on June 13, 2025 over alleged cross-border arms trafficking and terrorism-related activities.
Justice Bello found all three guilty on charges of terrorism and arms proliferation. In addition to the death sentence, the judge ordered the forfeiture of all monetary exhibits linked to the crime to the Federal Government.
The Department of State Services described the conviction as part of its sustained operations against terrorism and organized cross-border criminal networks in Nigeria.
“This conviction is the latest in a series of successful prosecutions by the DSS in its sustained operations against terrorism and organised cross-border criminal networks across Nigeria,” the agency said.
